Tips for House Hunting:

  1. Start Your Search Early: Start your search for a rental property early, ideally a few months before you need to move.
  2. Determine Your Budget: Determine how much you can afford to spend on rent, including utilities and other expenses.
  3. Consider Your Location: Consider the location of the rental property, including its proximity to your work, school, and other amenities.
  4. Check Out the Property: If you are able, reach out to the property manager to do a walk-through prior to signing the lease.
  5. Make a Good Impression: Introduce yourself, be courteous and friendly, and arrive early to make a positive first impression to future landlords, roommates, and/or neighbors.
  6. Ask Questions: Ask questions about the property, including its age, maintenance history, and any issues with the property that you should be aware of.
  7. Read the Lease: Read the lease carefully before signing it, and ask questions if anything is unclear.
